Kane's Flower World is Closing

When one door closes, another one opens.

After many years of proudly serving the Danvers community, Kane's Flower World - our neighbor and friendly competitor - is shuttering their doors after Christmas 2024. As sad as it is to see a comrade close up shop, the Kane family is happily moving onto the next chapter of their lives and we wish them the very best.

As the owner of Currans Flowers, our family would like to assure Kane's customers that the same high-quality plants, gardening materials, and exceptional plant knowledge you've come to expect from them, you will certainly receive from us. Also a family-owned, full-service operation, our Garden Center here at Currans Flowers has been serving the Danvers area and beyond since 1933. Our premium green and flowering plants are grown in our very own greenhouses and are well-known for their vibrancy and enduring beauty.

Besides an extensive and gorgeous selection of blooming and green plants, we also provide on-site décor for residential and commercial exteriors, special event services, gifts and gourmet gift baskets, and a wide selection of fresh-cut flowers. We source from top growers arou

The Danvers Planning Board approved a special permit and site plan review for Kane’s Flower World to be redeveloped for car dealerships.

The Kane family, who has been operating the store in the same location since 1965, has not yet given any indication of plans to close the business. Owner Jeff Kane said he was unable to share any information.

CIRCLING THE SQUARE: Did you hear what happened at Kane's Flower World?

We have to admit our weather has often been peculiar, even more so this year. After what seemed a long period of drought, many folks were praying for rain. Unfortunately, they may have prayed too hard.

At times I felt like the little kid who used to say “Rain, rain, go away. Come again some other day.” Looks like lots of outdoor events were either canceled, postponed or abbreviated. Oh well, at least our water bill should be lots less for now.

***

For those of you who may have missed it, Danvers had already gone to Level 4 drought conditions pre-Fourth of July. That level means outdoor watering with sprinklers and/or irrigation systems are only allowed on Tuesday and Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hand watering hoses with nozzles and watering cans) are allowed anytime as well as car washing.

Danvers has now reverted back to Level 3 conditions “due to substantial increased rainfall which improved flow in the Ipswich River.” Level 3 drought conditions allow outdoor lawn and garden watering with sprinklers and/or irrigation systems on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only, from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next.
