Here's some general information about how it works at SEXYLAND:


It's good to know that SEXYLAND is an art project, a conceptual club with room for experimentation; a place where all kinds of ideas can get a stage. A condition of filling a period at SEXYLAND is that behind every program, event, party or exhibition there must be an idea / concept / need that adds something to the cultural life in Amsterdam.

 

That is why we would first like to hear what you want to organize. Please provide as much information as possible! What do you want to organize, why, with whom, for whom, etc. It is also good to take into account that during weekend days it is important to attract as many people as possible; we are a non-profit project and can survive on the bar income from the weekend. So we are a little stricter on those days.

 

If your proposal fits the SEXYLAND concept, you will become a member of the association, which costs 80 euros for a day. You will receive a key ring with which you can go to all other events for free for the rest of the year. Furthermore, as the owner of SEXYLAND you can also use everything we have for free: DJ equipment


SEXYLAND World, the cultural clubhouse for creative (night) life with continuous programming, opens on 6 June on the Noordwal in Amsterdam. A place where free space and shared ownership have been raised to a higher level by providing different cultural, creative and social parties with their own space under the same roof.

SEXYLAND World originated from the SEXYLAND Society: a space for artists and other creative minds to organise what they want in freedom. From the need to allow audiences, ages, genres and subcultures to coexist, the SEXYLAND Society evolved into SEXYLAND World. With a different ‘owner’ every day, it has met an urgent need in the city: a stage for everyone, established and starting out. In which experimentation and failure and the process rather than the result are paramount. The ultimate goal is to connect makers and visitors from a multicoloured collection of subcultures and genres by creating free space to experiment, make, do and be who you are.

This summer De Ruimte rides the caravan to Sexyland World for a two-day festival. Expect poetry, modern dance, jazz and impro, intimate concerts, spectacular performances, African music, impressive classical, and highly danceable brass & electronic grooves, cumbia and Arabic tunes. Sexyland World vibrates continuously for two days: acoustic concerts outside, amplified music in the main hall inside and on the second floor intimate backstage performances.

SEXYLAND World is a club, an art house, a hangout, 2 restaurants, a hairdresser and a gallery. A labyrinth of diverse cultural, creative, and societal initiatives with a single entrance and a shared vision. The building serves as a necessary place for cultural freedom, inclusivity, and creative experimentation. No closed doors, secluded studios, or offices, but 400m² of organized chaos. You can wander from an authentic Chinese Sichuan restaurant to a youth hangout with Moroccan tea and games, from a boundless Art Castle to Amsterdam’s most beautiful terrace with Surinam fusion cuisine, from the Iranian 65+ community to a club with a different owner every day.
