Immigration world poverty and gumballs
International
Immigration challenges are global, with variations in scale, but common goals and cooperative efforts are vital for addressing them worldwide.
The challenges posed by legal immigration levels, illegal immigration, and asylum abuse and fraud are faced in other countries besides the United States. While the size and scale of these challenges may vary, there is much common ground for those working to implement immigration policies in the interest of their individual nations.
NumbersUSA regularly communicates with like-minded organizations in other countries and is currently working toward building more structured and permanent relationships.
Cooperative efforts are useful in developing shared goals and initiatives, and groups that may differ on the ultimate ends of immigration policy can and should engage in a robust dialogue about the migration challenges facing the world.

Welcome to “From the Archives”, where I dig up old posts and see what’s changed in the years since I originally wrote them.
I’ve had a rather interesting couple weeks here in my little corner of the blogosphere. A little over a year ago, a reader asked me to write a post about a video he had seen kicking around that used gumballs to illustrate world poverty. With the renewed attention to immigration issues over the last few weeks, that video apparently went viral and brought my post with it. A particularly long and thoughtful comment from someone named bluecat57 convinced me that was the way to go, and almost 2500 something words later, here we are. As a friendly reminder, this is not a political blog and I am not out to change your mind on immigration to any particular stance. I actually just like talking about how we use numbers

An old video of NumbersUSA founder Roy Beck using gumballs to describe the perils of mass migration into the United States went viral again last week, which the group he founded says demonstrates the timelessness of his message.
"Some people say that mass immigration into the United States can help reduce world poverty. Is that true? Well, no it's not," Beck said in the video. NumbersUSA, an advocacy group for limiting legal and illegal immigration, says the presentation has gotten more than 140 million views on various platforms over the years.
Former GOP congressional candidate Robby Starbuck shared the video to his 536,000 followers on X last week, where it
