Will an Arya Stark Game of Thrones Spinoff Work?


After the success of
Game of Thrones
, spin-offs were inevitable. The show became a flagship for HBO, and its immense success has reverberated across the industry. Every member of its ensemble cast has earned a proud place in the pop culture landscape. Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and Arya Stark are all names cemented as beloved characters with shocking endings.


House of the Dragon
continues to enjoy similar success with a stellar second season, setting the path for future spin-off ideas. HBO has many that are currently in some stage of the developmental process. However, one that hasn't been raised too often is the idea of Arya getting a spin-off of her own. The Stark had a miraculous journey that begs for more explanation. Even if her actor, Maisie Williams, chooses not to return for a follow-up, an Arya spin-off show could still have potential.

sequel? Williams was part of
Game of Thrones
' cast through all eight seasons as Arya Stark, bringing to life one of the books' best characters and turning her into one of the show's greatest players too. Arya is also a character relatively unscathed by the show's divisive ending, which could play into her favor when it comes to a possible spinoff.

So far, the only firm idea for continuing on from
Game of Thrones
' ending was a sequel show about Jon Snow, starring Kit Harington. However, after a couple of years in development, Harington confirmed in 2024 that the Jon Snow spinoff was shelved, as they couldn't crack the story. There is also a
Game of Thrones
movie in development, but no word on whether that will be a continuation, or, like all other spinoffs so far, a prequel.

What's clear is HBO and WB have a lot of plans for the franchise, including Martin's involvement, and that could lead to an Arya show. Martin teased me



Maisie Williams Might Be Returning To The World Of 'Game Of Thrones'




The majority of Maisie Williams' acting career and teenage years were spent on the set of HBO's
Game Of Thrones
as Arya Star, one of the show's most central characters. The 27-year-old actor appeared in every season and quickly became a fan favourite for her character's love for adventure and rejection of typical gender roles.

Now, thanks to a teaser from George R. R. Martin, the writer of the book series
A Song Of Ice And Fire
which inspired the
Game Of Thrones
TV programme, has hinted at the fact that the actor may return to the world of Westeros for a new project.
