One of Chicago’s most iconic holiday traditions is viewing the holiday trees from around the world at the Christmas Around The World exhibit at the Griffin Museum of Science & Industry. 

This year’s display includes Holidays of Light, a celebration of global holidays that honor light and enlightenment throughout the year. The exhibit opens on
November 16, 2024.


The 82nd anniversary of Christmas Around The World features 50 trees representing the holiday traditions of countries around the globe. This year, photos with Santa are included with the festivities as well as the Science of Snow exhibit which features high-resolution photos of snowflakes.

Admission to Christmas Around The World and Holidays of Light is included with museum admission. Tickets for adults are $25.95 and for kids 3-11 it’s $14. 95.  You can purchase tickets in advance here.

Griffin MSI Kicks Off the Holiday Season with the Return of Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light




CHICAGO —
Griffin Museum of Science and Industry’s (Griffin MSI) beloved annual tradition,

Christmas Around the World


and


Holidays of Light

, returns on Saturday, November 16 and runs through Monday, January 6, 2025. With just 100 days until Christmas, tickets for Museum visits and events this holiday season are now available.  


Christmas Around the World
and
Holidays of Light
features a forest of more than 50 trees and displays decorated by volunteers to represent the holiday traditions from cultures around the globe. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that brings together a whole world of holiday joy under one roof. Themed around the science of snow, this year’s annual holiday show will once again feature the photographic work of snowflake scientist and Caltech Physicist Ken Libbrecht, accompanied by a range of on-site programs and events for all ages.

It began in 1942, with just a single tree. Today, it is a beloved annual holiday tradition for Chicagoans to celebrate Christmas by visiting the floor-to-dome Grand Tree, surrounded by a forest of more than 50 trees and displays.

The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry invites families to discover Christmas Around The World and Holidays of Light to celebrate how this season of snow brings warmth to every culture, paying homage to Chicago's 77 neighborhoods and beyond.

Explore rich holiday traditions from around the globe while creating your own traditions with loved ones in Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light. The Museum of Science and Industry’s beloved annual celebration features a four-story, floor-to-dome Grand Tree, surrounded by a forest of 40 trees and displays decorated by volunteers to represent the holiday traditions from cultures around the globe. It’s the one-of-a-kind experience that brings a whole world of holiday joy under one roof. This trip will have the added bonus of getting to explore the rest of the museum at your own pace. If you would like a guided tour, our provided instructor will be available to provide one at no extra cost. Included in your registration is a general admission ticket and provided transportation.
