It is the responsibility of the competitor and/or the competitor’s instructor to check his/her points on a regular basis. Any point corrections or inquiries must be made in writing to tournaments@ataonline.com within 30 days of the tournament being posting to ATAMartialArts.com After 30 days of a tournament being posted, no additional correction requests can be made. For tournaments held in April, the competitor will have until May 5th to contact in writing the tournament department to request point corrections.
This rule applies for any errors including but not limited to wrong age, rank, & gender errors.

WEST CHESTER — A large contingent of local Chester County-area martial arts athletes will be competing at the American Taekwondo Association’s Tournament of Champions which takes place July 23

through 28
th
in Phoenix, Arizona.
T.O.C. qualifiers must hold the rank of Black Belt and either finished in the top ten for the 2023-24 tournament season for points in the world or win their event at District tournaments held in June.
Competitors are eligible to compete in as many eight events, should they qualify: Forms, Weapons, Combat sparring, Sparring, Creative Forms, Creative Weapons, X-treme forms and X-treme weapons.
Competing at the Tournament of Champions are eight local athletes: Payton Siegfried (competing in all eight events), Stephanie McGann (all eight events), Hannah Alderman (Forms, Combat Sparring), Ethan Fernandez (X-Treme Forms, X-Treme Weapons), Lila Moffett (Combat Sparring), Saket Banda (Weapons), Aubry Dowd (Weapons) and Tobias Reynolds (Sparring).
Dr. McGann, a local dentist, will be looking to defend her first World Championship in X-Treme Weapons. Another ATA West Chester athlete, Master Kammas Kersch, who won a World Championship in 2023 for Combat Spa
Competition is not just about beating an opponent; it is about allowing participants to display and improve their skills in a safe environment. With ATA, tournaments are one of the most dynamic and fun aspects of Songahm Taekwondo.
For 50 years, ATA has offered a fun and control tournament environment. ATA hosted tournaments are exclusive to ATA members and are organized for maximum participation. These tournaments provide participants with the chance to compete against competitors of their own age and rank ensure a fair and equal competition. Most importantly, competing in a tournament is about much more than just a trophy. It provides students with an opportunity to make new friends, learn to overcome nerves, and enhance their skills and technique. Whether or not they win, participating in organized competition is a key component to learning and growing in martial arts.
ATA headquarters hosts an International World Championship in the summer, and National tournaments in the Spring and Fall.
In addition to these annual tournaments, there are many local tournaments throughout the competition year.
The ATA Taekwondo World Championships in Phoenix, AZ, 2024, was a remarkable event that brought together martial artists from around the world. This year’s championship was a showcase of dedication, skill, and the indomitable spirit of Taekwondo. Our team, led by esteemed instructors Master McCoig, Mr. Blanc, and Mrs. Gibbons, had an outstanding presence at the event, highlighting both their expertise and the talent of our students.

Our instructors, Master McCoig, Mr. Blanc, and Mrs. Gibbons, are pillars of our Taekwondo community, dedicated to the continuous improvement of their teaching methods and personal skills. In preparation for the championships, Mr. Blanc and Mrs. Gibbons attended advanced seminars to further enhance their knowledge. These seminars covered a wide range of topics, including innovative training techniques, the latest in sparring strategies, and the nuances of forms (poomsae) execution. Their commitment to professional development ensures that our students receive the highest level of instruction and are well-prepared for competition and personal growth.
