Before you enter the Painted World
Where - This area is accessed via the giant painting on the bottom floor of the chapel in
Anor Londo
; the area below where you crossed the ceiling rafters.
How - You need to have the
Peculiar Doll
to enter the painting - you obtain this by going back to the room you started in on your return to the
Undead Asylum
.
Important Notes
:
Once you have entered the
Painted World
, you cannot get back without crossing the map to find the "exit".
Fighting the boss,
Crossbreed Priscilla
, is optional; you can talk to her, and she'll ask you to leave her world in peace. If you hit her, the fight begins. If you don't want to fight her, just approach the edge of the path behind her and a cutscene will start, returning you to the painting in
Anor Londo
.
You can return here to fight her later if you want.
This is a tough area with many enemies that, although are easy to kill, can also dish out a lot of damage very quickly.
It can be speculated that the developers had to think fairly carefully in regards to the design of the Painted World. As the player will be trapped here, a few badly balanced sec

Snowfield, Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel's first bonfire, places you at the beginning of an open-world level. As is often the case in Dark Souls 3, there are multiple paths you can take away from a bonfire, and our guide reflects that. The choice is yours, and our table of contents will help you get there. What path should you take? Well, our guide is designed to minimize frustration, taking the routes most likely to keep you alive. You'll head from the area surrounding the Snowfield bonfire to a hill with loot, and back to the bonfire to rest up. Warp to the Painted World of Ariandel from the Cleansing Chapel bonfire in Cathedral of the Deep, and you'll find yourself in a cave. Accessing the Painted World
To access this area, you must speak to Slave Knight Gael at the Cathedral of the Deep. Warp to the Cleansing Church Bonfirekneeling beside the altar between the church's large doors. Speak to him and exhaust his dialogue to trigger a cutscene and you are given a piece of the painting at which point you will be transported to the beginning of the DLC. NOTE: If you have completed the events of The Ringed City first, instead of entering through Gael there will be a piece of the painting on the edge of the
